Rasnov
We spent several days driving through the Carpathian range in Transylvania before stumbling across this citadel in Rasnov, Romania.
It was believed to have been built by Teutonic Knights in the 13th century. It’s history did not seem to attract many tourists during the cold and wet off season. This is a very poor area and these people hope to capitalize on any opportunity to take in the limited tourist money that comes in at this time of year. Next to the citadel is a seemingly out of place “Dinopark” with strange dinosaur sculptures and pictures. A tractor pulled us past, while the shop owners tried to make a rare sale.
Romania is poor, but beautiful.
